How it all began – the creation of Happys on Tour

Some ideas grow slowly. Others arrive with a bang – right at the heart. Our idea for Happys on Tour is of the latter kind. It was conceived on a clear winter night somewhere in the far north – amidst crunching snow, a flickering fire, and two warm-breathing dogs at our feet.

It was over Christmas and New Year's 2024/25 when we decided: Enough is enough. No more of the daily grind, to-do lists, and appointment calendars. Instead of traveling through Switzerland and Germany with our caravan as usual, we set off for another world – towards Swedish Lapland.

There, we rented small, cozy wooden houses in the middle of nowhere. No streetlights, no neighbors, no rush. Just us, Milo, Mooi, and the silence. And right there, under the northern lights and in the crackling snow, the question arose: What if we just let go? Not two weeks, but six months? Not a vacation—but freedom?

Back in Switzerland, it was clear: we couldn't let go of the idea. We started planning, dreaming, calculating. And it quickly became clear that our caravan, as much as we loved it, wasn't mobile enough for this adventure. Too inflexible, too bulky. So we got rid of it and began searching for the right vehicle.

At the Caravan Fair in Bern in October 2024, something unplanned happened: We fell in love. With a van. Even before we planned! Robust, well-thought-out, charming – with room for the four of us, technology for all weather conditions, and a gut feeling: That's it. Just a few months later, thanks to Libero Autopark Tägerwilen, it was on our doorstep. At this point, a heartfelt thank you to the entire team – straightforward, honest, and passionate about what they do.

With the van came its name: Bäri . Our mobile home immediately felt right – like a little cave to retreat to. The dogs snuggled in, we took a deep breath. And we knew: This is going to be good. Maybe even really good.

The name for our new passion project suddenly became obvious: Happys on Tour – a tribute to our two dogs, who make us laugh every day, and to the two of us, who are ready to try new things together.

I, Matthias, have already quit my part-time job at Pro Nautik in Romanshorn. The apartment is as good as history. Boxes, plants, handbags, shelves—everything is going under the hammer. We're letting go. Our painting team is fully behind us. The van has been tested and loved. And every day, the anticipation grows a little more.

What's next? No idea. But we're ready. Ready for freedom, the wind in our faces, the smell of coffee from the gas stove, muddy paws on the carpet, and the stories life writes along the way. Happys on Tour. Real. Simple. On the road.
